Yamaha Waverunner struggling out of the hole.?
I have a 2001 Yamaha Waverunner SUV that I just purchased. The unit is in excellent condition and runs like a champ. However, when I have a couple of passengers on board, it acts like it has air in the pump when I start to get it up on plane. After 15-20 seconds, it finally grabs water and the thing runs like a banshee, well, as much as a 1200 SUV can run like a banshee, 45 miles per with three of us aboard (400-450 lbs.) I am ruling out weight because it is rated at 662 lbs. What could be the pump's problem with flowing clean water?

Yes ,all that weight is causing the prop to cavitate. The prop pitch is probably pretty high also.If you turn the wheel slightly while taking off,it should get on plane quicker. Also check the impeller clearance in the pump housing.
