Question about epididymitis?
I was diagnosed with epididymitis because my left testicle was hurting...they checked my urine and it came out clean, no infection..they did an ultrasound and they said i have an infection, epididymitis....i am not sexually active...i havent had sex in about 3 years...they put me on anti biotics and the pain subsided, but now it came back again....sometimes i have pain in the left side of my abdomen...im going to schedule another appointment to see my urologist....will this go away completely?...if i masturbate, will it become worse?...could i masturbate or no?

i think there is no connection with urine and eppidymis.bcoz in eppidymis up to my knoledge sperm gets matured.so u get a good consult.another main thing is that u dont mastrubate.may be it can result in some other problem.because semen has to come out .it will b a problem.dont think or take it as a amall thing.so go and diagnose and find the original problem.prevention is better than cure.good luck.

If it is painful to masturbate, don't do it until you are checked out. Sounds like a possible small inguinal hernia. Be sure you take your entire course of antibiotics. If you stop before they are all gone, the infection may return even stronger. Didymus was the Greek name for the disciple Thomas, who was a twin. The prefix epi means "above". The epididymus is located just above the testes, or "twins" and hence, the name.

Left side? Take stroll down there and see if anything feels strange. There's a vein that can sometimes cause this pain. Almost always on the left. Doc should have caught that if he checked.

my hubby has suffered from this for years......its not constant and a heating pad and tylenol usually eases the pain........it flairs up about 4 or 5 times a yr .....urologist prescribed antibiotics for 30days but it always returns....some men are prone to it and some are not........if u have been checked by doctor then i am not sure of any long term relief....i have heard of surgery to remove epididymis but this sounds extreme......ejaculating seems to give some relief and other times seems to aggravate it...........good luck i know it is painful

pain on the left lower side of abdomin could be sypmtoms of diverticulosis or diverticulitis.
infections that are left untreated from this can cause repeated urinary problems also.
heres a link for you to read the symptoms and treatments
Source(s): Surgery for diverticulitis Diverticulitis that does not respond to medical treatment requires surgical intervention. Surgery usually involves drainage of any collections of pus and resection of that segment of the colon containing the diverticuli, usually the sigmoid colon. Therefore, surgical removal of the bleeding diverticula is necessary for those with persistent bleeding. In patients needing surgery to stop persistent bleeding, exact localization becomes crucial to guide the surgeon. Sometimes, diverticula can erode into the adjacent bladder, causing severe recurrent urine infection and passage of gas during urination. This situation also requires surgery. Sometimes, surgery may be suggested for patients with frequent, recurrent attacks of diverticulitis leading to multiple courses of antibiotics, hospitalizations, and days lost from work. http://www.medicinenet.com/diverticulosis/page3.ht... - Anonymous1 decade ago

No known contraindication, but jiggling your balls masturbating may not feel so good!
