Anybody no a "sanders"?
my great-great grandfather moved his family here from Portugal.I know my great grandfather was in WWII His name was Fances[frank] Sanders. I think he had a wife named Rose. My greatgreat gradnfather had a wife, Matilda.
Frances moved to Rhode Island, he had 2 sons, one of them was married to a Latin or italian woman and they moved to California. After Frances's son died his wife lost all contact with my family.
There are over 4 generations of John Sanders, and possibly Frank Sanders.
Does anyone know of any of this. And if not how do I find my ancesstors info since they were from a foreign counrty?
i need free web sites.

I joined the USAF on 1959, was 16 at the time, almost 17, One of the new recruits was sanders. There was another one at Reimy AFB at Puerto Rico, as well as a Sanders Fa. living here at P.R., but I cant remember the town. Sorry.

You research your way back to the immigrants, not from. Without having given an age range or time they lived for any, it's unlikely anyone can easily help. The standard way to organize all that is keying it onto genealogy software so you know what you know and what you don't.
Order birth, marriage and death documents, and military if there are any for each. Find them all on census. Once you get past the 20th century you'll have a good idea already when any immigrants came because that's on later censuses also.

The best way I know for you to learn about your roots is to:
Build your family tree on line.
You can do this for free on:
Start with yourself, then attach living family members.
Find out all you can about you family from living membes, then attach it to your tree.
Now it is time to look for historical records and attach the info to your tree:
It is ALL about census records, and other historical records!
You might get lucky and others may have done some work on your family tree. Google family members names ie. "Mary Smith" + "family tree"
Free sites:
http://www.censusrecords.net/?o_xid=27399&o_lid=27...
http://www.accessgenealogy.com/
ect.
The time may come when you want more information than you can find for free. When this happens you can back up your "tribalpage" tree to your computer on a "GEDCOM" file
You can then go to (I think it is the best payed site)
upload your "GEDCOM" file
and start to work!
you might need to make a few ajustments to your tree to make it look better.
