First off, your going to have to find out what the motherboard can support, just because its a socket 939 doesn't necessarily mean it will be upgradeable.
Your going to have to find the model number of the motherboard, look up the specs of the mobo and then see if you can upgrade or not. More than likey you can, but make sure b4 you purchase just in case.
For a 939, there are the X2 dual cores and the FX, the FX are aimed twards gaming, and the x2 are shaped for the mediastream, like everyday multitasking. Its just how the 2 cores interact with eachother that makes the difference. Both are great.
Thats what I would do for now. To get a 939 processor is expensive because that socket is dying out, and so is it processors.
A 939 x2 2.4ghz cost around $300.

this one is good http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... it will run games pretty well and the processor the guy recommend above is good but a total rip off you can get the socket am2 version of it for $115 its almost double the price you could easily get another mobo 1 gig of ddr2 ram and a socket am2 4800+ for around the game price as one socket 939 x2 4800+ so just get x2 4200 because you don't want to throw a rip off amount of money on a processor for a socket thats discountinued

According to those specs, you can't use dual core, with that motherboard.
"CPU: AMD Athlon™ 64 3500+ Processor (64-bit with AMD64 Technology)
(2.20GHz, 2000MHz FSB, 512KB L2 cache)"
