I upgrade my laptop to ubuntu 7.10, Does anybody knows how to erase the "old" choices in the prompt ( where you can choose windows or ubuntu. I forgot the name of the program. but if you have dual booting you know what I am talking about.

Those other entries are there for a reason, do not try to remove them as you'll render your system unbootable. The top entry will be your current kernel version, to check it from the terminal use this command:
uname -v (prints the kernel version)
