I have dark brown eyes and dark brown hair and i feel the same way about black eyeliner. I use a dark brown eyeliner and it's so much more natural. I recommend using a dark brown eyeshadow for eyeliner though. I also suggest getting the eyeshadow damp and applying it with a flat, slanted brush right at the lash line above and below the top lashes. but if she's not comfortable with powder then go for the pencil. And actually Wet 'n' Wild has the best pencil eyeliner in my opinion, and it's only 99 cents so it definitely won't hurt to try!! My eyes are really sensitive to make-up and they get irritated by every other eyeliner but never once with the wet 'n' wild eyeliner/eyebrow pencil. If you get the wet 'n' wild pencil get the color called "Kohl".

Generally, you should stay away from eyeliner the same color as your eyes. It tends to seem to blend together and make you eyes look smaller. I would suggest blue eyeliner; blue eye makeup flatters brown eyes. If your mother thinks that blue is too dramatic, try a thin layer of brown eyeliner on the same side of the lashes as the eye.
Hope I helped! Good luck!

Brown eyeliner will look subtle and will make your eyes look pretty plain. If you want some color try a navy eyeliner. It's not as harsh as black and will give you some color. It looks great with brown eyes too. You can get it at http://www.marykay.com/micheleleahjones

I use an espresso brown liner and smudge it to soften it up. Black may be harsh, I know it is on me. I only use black when I want a very dramatic eye for night. And I am also a mom of a 16 yr old....so its all good!

brown on brown is not a good idea. unless you want to defeat the purpose of even wearing eyeliner. i recommend wearing black...but if it looks to "harsh" try a charcoal or soft black color. or try a smoky silvery color. also, try using black eyeliner with a smudge stick so it doesnt come out looking very thick and heavy. Or try using an eye shadow lightly over it a little to lighten it.

I dont think brown eyeliner would be the way 2 go for some1 who has brown hair and eyes. she should pick something that would make her eyes pop out (but not 2 much) as if she were a runway model or something.

I have the same coloring with eyes that are a bit deep-set, so what I use is Revlon's new eyeliner with the smudge-tip at the end in Sueded Brown in a thin line on my upper lid (middle, where the iris tend to stay) and on lower lash lines (middle, where the iris/pupil stays) or on the edges.
I hope that helps!

Sometimes a brown liner doesn't show up well, or can clash with the hair and eyes. As long as as she goes with a dark brown or a black/brown she'll be fine.
If she wants to try black again, tell her to use it in soft, whispy strokes instead of layering it on. I use black and I have brown eyes and hair. I do small, simple strokes and it looks pretty natural for me.
Good luck!

I would personally use black eye liner because it would help her brown eyes to stick out more. If it helps try applying a little less but if it still does not give the result that she wants, try brown eye liner and see if it works with what she wants.

I would go for soft black to create some contrast. Or a chestnut brown would also be pretty. Maybelline used to make a really pretty brown by that name.
