toss the nuts with butter and brown sugar then bake.

for a racy twist: add semi-sweet mini chocolate chips and a dash of cyanne pepper. mm.

This recipe is for pecans but you can use any kind of nuts you want. You can experiment with some brown sugar too and see if you like that added in there.

    Sugar-Coated Pecans

    Original recipe yield: 12 servings

    INGREDIENTS

    1 tablespoon egg white

    2 cups pecan halves

    1/4 cup sugar

    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

    DIRECTIONS

In a bowl, beat egg white until foamy. Add pecans and toss until well coated. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over pecans and toss to coat. Spread in a single layer on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until browned, stirring occasionally. Cool on waxed paper.

Typically nuts are coated in melted butter and honey for a sweet taste.

In a small nonstick saucepan over med-high heat - melt 1/4 cup - 1/2 cup butter (depending on the amount of nuts you plan to make). Add honey to melted butter and bring mixture to a slight boil - add nuts, stir to coat evenly. Transfer nuts to a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and spread in a single layer. Bake 5-7 minutes in a preheated oven at 375°F. Remove and let cool.

I make also make my own spiced nuts for salads.

    1/2 cup butter

    1/4 cup sugar .

    1 tsp ground cumin

    1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp chili powder (or cayenne pepper)

1 1/2 cups pecan pieces (or diced pecans)

Melt the butter in a small nonstick saucepan. Add sugar, cumin, salt and chili powder. Heat until boiling and sugar dissolves. Add pecans and stir to coat evenly. Spread pecans on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 5-7 minutes at 375°F (or until toasted - do not burn!).

you can heat sugar in a saucepan and let it melt, stir until a golden color appears. and the bubble break slowly. be careful not the burn.....put your nut in the sauce pan and stir to coat. then turn is mixture out on to a butter or oiled cookie sheet and separate and then let the mixture cool.
