What our office use is a satellite product know as the "Fog Product" As you can guess, the main use of this satellite is to detect the formation of low clouds and fog. But it also detects fires very well...especially at night when we can't use the visible satellite. With the visible satellite, you may see smoke in a big fire. Once the sun goes down, the fog produce does even a better job. With the earth cooling, a fire or hot spot will appear as a black or dark spot. There will be other back or dark spots on a single satellite shot. But if you run the loop, the fire or hot spot or satellite, continue to be there though out the time loop. While the ones that are not associated with a fire will flicker and rarely stay at the same spot for more than one frame.

Try it tonight in a place you know that there is a wild fire. You can actually see it grow when it gets out of control, or become faint when the fire fighters are getting a handle on it.

Here is a link to a "Fog Product" in California. The resolution is not as good as I like. Maybe you can find one that is better. Remember to run the loop. I don't know of any on the Internet that you can add terrain. But that does not mean it doesn't exist.
