How to correct spelling on Missouri birth certificate?
My sister filled out her daughter's birth certificate and the hospital typed it up according to her instructions. Unfortunately her husband wanted the middle name spelled differently due to a family tradition. Can she change the spelling of the name on the certificate once it is filed? How?

If the document has already been filed you will more than likely have to do an official name change. The same thing happened to Oprah. Her name is actually supposed to be Orpah (from the bible).

Clearly, she agreed with the spelling since she signed the certificate. If the hospital spelled it right, why change it? Or is it spelt the correct way and he wants a special way?
If it is within a month or so of the birth (my state is 90 days), just contact the office that handles birth certificates and they will amend the certificate with the correction. That's what they did with mine (wrong city of birth). As the other poster mentioned, contact your hospital. They may be able to expedite.
