how come my guinea pig is lonley and deprest?

Well, he's depressed because he watched BIG BROTHER 8. Wow does that suck.

He's most likely bored. Give him more floor time and make fun little tunnels for him to run through. Hide treats in his cage and during floor time. The best thing you can do is get him a friend guinea pig.

Most guinea pigs will thrive with a buddy. Make sure they are the same sex. We sure don't need more guinea pigs in the world. Please consider adopting from a shelter or rescue. There are soooo many great, healthy pigs who need a forever home. They will be healthier than pigs from a pet store.

If you only have one guinea pig, that might be it. Most pets like the companion of other pets like them. Or if you don't spend a lot of time with it, than that might be another reason.

I agree with most of the answers above, yes it is probably depressed because its getting not as much attention from you + stuck in its cage. : ( All animals have different needs, some need more attention than others, similar to ppl.

We buy ourselves pets not as a toy but for companionship for ourselves. So start paying attention to it : ) Watching one of my pets do their funny antics is very entertaining. Get to know your g.pig. It will really amaze you at how smart animals are. People who don't know this are usually the ones who pay little att ention to their pets. Ppl tell me I talk to mine like they're human lol.

Imagine, if you were stuck in 1 room with just windows to entertain you, would that be enough for you in life ? Sometimes we have to place ourselves in our pets shoes/paws to understand their needs.

Sometimes getting another similar animal isn't always the answer. If it was my own 9 rabbits would be entertained + they wouldn't be. Each one gets my attention, free run time + pettings every 2nd day. I can see it whenever I'm sick.

They don't just want another companion they would like us too. : )

Another thing I disagree with one of the answers above. Animals have needs for security + love just like people do. They aren't "just animals" they are living things. Just because they can't talk to us doesn't make them inhuman. : )

I had to put down my 13 yr old male rabbit, vet + I were talking about cloning pets. I said I wouldn't do it. She told me something that made an impact on my thinking. Know what she said ? "Even if you clone a pet, it will never have the same soul." Isnt that beautiful ?

Maybe it's lonely. Guinea pigs need companionship. If you can't spend much time with it, get another guinea pig.

well,if possible get it a partner, when i had guinea pigs,i only had one,i never had two.two males would fight,i dont know about two females,and if you put a male and female together,poof,instant family! i miss having those little piggies!

Probably because it is in jail. You keep it in a cage and it never sees another of it's own kind. Keeping animals in a cage is not a good thing. How would you like it? Let it roam free, and it might be a bit happier.

its not, its an animal it cant be lonely or depressed, get a lfe. animals dont have complex feelings. they have hungry, fed, normal, and moody...thats it...
