Telekom is normally very expensive if we are talking about calls outside your phone area code (other city for example) or even international ones, the best way is to make your calls with an independent provider.

The best way to find the best provider for a call to a determinate place is imho the following site:

    http://www.teltarif.de/

in "Tarifabfrage" choose the name of the place you want to call and you get a list of the cheapest providers.

If you are talking about calls inside your phone area code you have only Telekom if you do not have a contract with any other telephone provider.

If you don't get a couple of offers. Currently there are also flat rates for normal telephone calls, there are also special prices and flat rates for telephone-Cell-DSL all together as one.

Accor and Freenet have for example very good offers, but sometimes you find something better by any local provider.
