Can you get pregnant during the first week of a new pack of birth control pills?

I've been taking the pill for several months. I had sex without a condom during the first week of a new pack of pills. the night before i took the pill a few hours late. I'm usually really good about taking them at the same time every day but last month i also took a few pills late or ended up having to take two pills in one day because i missed them. Am I at a greater risk of getting pregnant??? please help! I'm worried.

Unfortunately, birth control pills are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy and the percentage goes up if you don't take them correctly. I know from first hand experience you can take them correctly and still become pregnant if you are on various medications. I was taking an antibiotic.

Stop worrying, it's not going to change the outcome.

1st it depends on what type of pills youre on. if youre using the ortho kind you should be fine. the only time you get pregnant during the 1st week of pills is the very 1st time you begin taking it. after that you should be protected.

taking the pill a few hours late wont have any effect. ive been on it since january and i never take mine the same time every day.

however some people are naturally more fertile then others so if youre still havin doubts call planned parenthood.

get the number from the phone book or off their website. there are also question and answer sections on there about birth control as well.

    hope this helps

NO! that is the point of birth control. You are not going to get pregnant while you are taking birth control as directed. 'Cleaning yourself out' is not going to do any good anyway, birth control or no.

Yes you are. You need to follow the instructions specifially or they will not work properly. Don't take the chance, use protection!! You should also contact your doctor. They will tell you whether you need to go in and get checked out or not. You should also be using a condom every time, unless you are certain that your partner and yourself are only having intercourse with one another,

When starting birth control, they take at least 30 days to become fully effective. So, to answer your question, ABSOLUTELY!!! Please be safe!
