My aunt is dying of cancer. The last report a few minutes ago said that her breathing had become labored.?

She is sleeping 90 percent of the time, and my uncle is at her bedside. The Nurse says the end is very near. This is, I know, not really a question that can be answered in any precise way. Best guess, please. How long does she have? Does "very near" mean through the night...the weekend? How long does labored breathing last?

If she is "sleeping" most of the time this may be a form of coma or medicine induced coma and that isOK! You want her to be comfortable. If her breathing is very labored with periods of apnea (non-breathing) then that is called Cheyne-Stokes respirations, this can last for hours even days. Then eventually the breaths will get shallower and less often then will stop. Usually the breathing stops before the heart will give out but only for a few moments. I pray she is on hospice and is well taken care of and most importantly she is free from pain. This is the natural dying process. Usually when the Dr or nurse says death is very near it means less than 24 hours. I pray she is not in pain. I have been a nurse 16+yrs mainly in long term care (elderly) and in hospice. Just be by her side and say It is ok to go and I Love you. God Bless and be strong!!!

Oh My God, I am so sorry. I watched my grandmother die of cancer. It is horrible. Very near could mean anything. It could mean tonight, it could also mean in a week. It will probably be this weekend. There is no right or wrong answer. I have heard of people very near, that pulled through and hung on for another week. I would be very available for the next 72 hrs. That is terrible and I feel so bad for your uncle and I will pray for your family tonight.

Tim, you have a very nice profile and sounds like you have a very interesting job and life. As for your question, I suppose your guess is as good as anyones but it does sound ominously imminent. If it were my aunt I would be praying for her and for her soul. If you are not near to where she is hospitalized you might want to have a minister or priest, which ever is applicable, to go and pray with her. When my father died he was in a coma and we didn't know if he could hear anything but we had my minister go to pray for his soul anyway, believing that just maybe he was able to hear. My prayers are with you and your aunt, right now at this moment.

    Bob.

The foremost crisis is in the event you go away your dog on your vehicle, you run a threat of the canine being stolen, certainly for those who go away the auto strolling. Additionally, some humans will file any one in the event that they see an animal left by myself in a car. You can are trying it in case you suppose it can be nontoxic. Simply preserve a watch to your dog when you get tied up at the office. Hope I helped.
