I need to clean up a recording is there a free application?

I have a voice recording in mp3 format I'd like to clean up (remove some popping and hissing, raise the volume on the person speaking) is there a free program I could use to do that, or if not free a really good program I could pick up at Best Buy or something?

Not that I know of, but if, I am assuming, it was home done, and is redoable, get a better mike and/or quieter room (or less static if you have a tv on nearby or something else electrical) and redo.

Test a few diffrent things, like

-turning off anything that may be causeing static between comp and/or moniter and itself.

-listen for background noise (like the air conditioning or other noises you just 'tune out' but your mike may catch)

-Try speaking farther back from or closer to, your mike

-try to speak louder, so you can just turn it down, and then have a normal (but strained sounding) volume voice with the pops down low, this may not work, both could go up, if it is the voice/mike causeing the pops in the first place

-Try getting a new mike and asking your local geek (I am proud to almost be one) at the store (radio shack etc) or a friend who would just love to recite all the numbers to you.(oh yeah you could get the Rx 2034 update on the F9 internal combo including headset, mike and the new 3927589KLD ouput bit! Just nod and ask a few more times till he runs out of info and tells you in english x) lol

Make sure the popping is the best you can get it (you know what I mean, lol) before you try redoing it all over, do short test recordings to see what works and what doesn't.

    Good luck

As to debugging something already popping, I don't know, sorry, gave what I had.

Edit~I saw that to (the other board saying no answer) hope this helps you somehow

My answer to you is to be honest. Most employers are looking for an honest employee. If you have been crime and drug free for over 23 years and have learned from past mistakes why hide the fact. Instead of lying, try to explain your situation, be prepared with references that will vouch for your character. No family members. Give jobs that you have held previously, even if they let you go, they may be willing to give a statement of recommendation. If you live in Chicago Illinois area there is a place called Safer Foundation that helps ex-felons find employment. Last but not least, pray about it and be sincere. You mentioned the fact that McDonalds is not the answer, why not? I mean after all how can beggars be choosey... lose the attitude, humble yourself... $100 is more than $0 anyday. Be blessed and good luck!
