How do i know which graphics card will fit into my slot?

I have a celeron 2.5 ghz i dont knoiw much more than that and i cant play games any better than java. It just reverts to the desktop. I pulled the nvidia from my old presario and it didnt fit.

What sort of card do i buy that will fit? is there a name for the specific card that fits to a celeron or what?

You'll have to look at your system to find whether it accepts an AGP or PCI Express (PCIe) graphics card. All really old graphics cards are AGP (or even older ones are PCI and others, but those are basicly as old as when the Internet was a new thing). So if your old presario video card doesn't fit, it is likely that your computer requires a PCI Express Graphics Card or AGP if the presairo was a PCI graphics card.

It sounds like you can only run PCI Cards (Standard).

If the nvidia didnt fit it means it was an AGP.

You can only buy PCI Cards from Ebay or second hand stores. The best and last one that was made on Standard PCI (NOT PCIe) was the Gforce 5500 256mb.

It will cost you around $50 us brand new if you can find one.

Make sure its PCI and not a PCI express card.
