Can I get MSN Live Mail without a new address?

I currently have an email account with msn (similar to this: example@msn.com). I tried to sign up for this new Live Mail thing they have but it's forcing me to create a new email address using hotmail (like this: example@hotmail.com). I don't want to change my email address if I can avoid it (what a pain that can be). Does anyone know if I have to make this change? If not, how can I keep my address and use Live Mail? I have a request in to MSN for an answer but they are not responding very quickly (big surprise huh?).

Go to passport.com and register your e-mail address on that. MSN Live doesn't use Hotmail addresses it uses passport accounts. The reason people think you have to use Hotmail is because that automatically signs you up to both services.

As long as you register your e-mail address on passport.com you can use any e-mail client (Yahoo!, GMail, Lycos etc)

I personally use GMail e-mail and use it for my MSN Live contacts
