We are there because what Maliki thinks is wrong. The Iraqi forces(to my knowledge) are undertrained and not capable of leading the fight against terrorism in iraq. However, we are also there because a pullout would cause mass chaos, and it would result in the country being taken over by terrorists, which could make it a safe haven for the taliban. From what ive heard though, they are trying to get all troops pulled out by sometime in 2008. And with there being no terrorists in iraq, there were thousands there before we came there, they just had nothing really worth attacking, and now they do.

The WMD argument to get us into Iraq was a total lie. The Al Quida connections in Iraq were lies. The was no WMD or Al Quida in Iraq, but there was always oil there. I believe Dick Cheney had his eyes set on Iraq from day one and his former employer Halliburton was to profit from the oil that was suppose to flow from there after Hussein was gone. Halliburton has done very well with profits but not doing what they expected. They were going to go in and get the oil flowing, but have been bogged down in more technical assistance than anything else. They are after all the primary Military contractor in Iraq. Doesn't Mr. Cheney still receive severence payments from Halliburton? When we do finally gwt oil from Iraq it will be the most expensive oil in the world. Paid for with American Blood.
