Why do I never die in my dreams?
I have had dreams of situations where I am coming close to death. Usually some kind of drowning incident usually involving a car going into the water or my boat flipping over. But not only that- been shot at, falling of a high place or a car accident and I always wake up. I have heard that you cannot die in your dreams- is that true? it must be...

Yeah you can't die in dreams. I actually wrote an article about dreams for my school and the only way you can die is when you have a really bad dream and you flip your head really hard onto the wall or something.

Dreams are reflections of your soul. This is my most comman saying. You are telling your self something. Death id a metaphore for the absolute end. Death dreams usally means that you have made an absolute end to something subcounciesly but not in acuallity. Drowning is symbolic for struggle so you know what this desion is you just want to end it but can't. Being shot at means that this will give you pain. Falling is insecurity as accidents are unpredictiblity. It sounds like a relationshipsuch as a friendship, family or romantic desion.

Great question for the Psychology section!
Have you ever tried to think of yourself dead? Can you see what that would look like or feel like? I don't remember where in the psychology books I read this but I believe the answer is that most people can't. The see themselves looking at their tomb or they see their funeral. But in their minds eye, they still exist.
I believe the end result was two things.
1) My mind cannot conceive of its own demise, eternity, or just not being. It can't grasp not being, or not being what it currently is.
2) Many believe this is a proof that we continue on after we slide past the veil of death. The theory is that because we cannot conceive ourselves as nothing, we must therefore continue on as us without our bodies somehow.
Anyhow without getting too deep into this, it makes sense that in your dreams you mind is concerned about bullets and the like, but doesn't understand not being so you don't actually die. Especially since it knows full well that you're still breathing, safely in your bed while it carries on its nightly maintenance. Can't tell you the number of times I've drowned to find I can breath under water and continue on with the dream.
The other side of this coin is assuming you really did die in your sleep, what would the dream be like? Sadly we'll never know because you wouldn't be able to tell us.
Hope this helps,

i've got had various dream I died in. a million dream became the place I have been given shot down, I mean bullets comming from each and every the place and that i in my view went down (in the dream) I undergo in strategies seeing black for a on an identical time as then I awoke. It became greater like jumped up yet i'm nonetheless alive. and that i had different styles of objectives that I died in yet i ended up waking up, so i will rather say if u die on your dream soes not mean u die in genuine life. yet another observe, i've got by no skill awoke while i became falling, in many situations once I get near to the floor I initiate floating like a bite of paper or land in a bush or some thing gentle. It does not needed mean your depressed regardless of the undeniable fact that that's a subconscience difficulty that u may well be in a million way or yet another some what traumatic approximately your wellness or life often. that's a awaken call asserting the situition your in or what your doing on your physique needs to alter or end. yet another difficulty is objectives can be intuitions so save yours eyes open. it could happen to u in the dream regardless of the undeniable fact that it could desire to be approximately somebody your near to, yet purely u can interpretate that.

People tend to fear death in their dreams because they believe one of a number of myths. Some interpretations define Death in a dream as being representative of change. It really depends on how you view death. Is death something that you think is evil? Or is it just a natural process of changing from one form into another? Most dream interpretation books I have read say "Change." That you don't die in your dream might mean that changes or crossroads are coming in your life that you are not prepared for. Maybe you are not ready to make drastic changes to your lifestyle, or perhaps you fear the future.

i had one dream where I died. so i dont think that 'cant die in your dreams' is necessarily true. I was on vacation somewhere like the Jersey Shore with some of my friends, and we all got into a car accident...and my other two friends lived...but i'd died. but then i was like a ghost and could still talk to them. I woke up crying (worse part...i had friends sleeping over, one of which who was in the dream, and i woke up teary eyed. haha). but then again i could still communicate so idk. but i dont think the cant dream death thing is true.
[you know what...? i just might post a question about this dream i had. see if anyone can interpret it.]

When you die in a dream, it is really a symbol of a peice of you "dying away". Like, an unwanted or unneeded part of you that you've been wanting to change is finally leaving.
Maybe you never die in dreams because you've never really reached that point of totally losing an unwanted part of you.
I personally never die in my dreams either, so it's not that uncommon.

Lol, I have had dreams of fighting to stay alive never dieing never really living just fighting for my life. Like someone breaking in the house and trying to kill me and trying to reach for the knife or gun and I freeze or getting mugged and the same thing. I think that our dreams are whats left in our memories from past lifes. Like in your past lifes you died different ways and thats what you remember for me it's staying alive maybe I fought a lot in the past.

The Myth is that if you die in a dream you really do die !
And so far, I've never died in a dream either... so... who knows... maybe it's true ;-)
