Hp 2110v All in One Printer; If the Scanner Malfunctions Does this mean the Entire unit is Shot?

Will it cost more to fix than what it's worth? 3yrs old.

Printer function was fine, now doesn't go past message saying "scanner failed" (just making clicking noise till turned off)

Nothing blocking it or gears. checked inside and out, top and bottom

How can I get it to past "scanner failed"

"click, click, click...."

    run a clean up onto it. sometimes they do clog up.

    well if the scanner stops, doesnt mean that other parts will stop. you just need to purchase a seperate scanner.
