GOOD WEDDING RECEPTION SONGS!! Need Help.?

Now I am a music guru, but it seems like when I need a list of good songs that will get everyone out of their chairs and dancing, my mind goes blank. So please, tell me what is your favorite song that will get you up and dancing at a reception, all ages!!!!!!

    RJ,

I know that feeling... I used to DJ and despite hearing the music all the time my mind would always go blank right when I needed it the most!

I've found a website that helps with reception music:

    http://www.partymusicwiki.com/index.php/Category:W...

It's got a solid list of wedding reception music and you can preview the songs right off the site. Further, there's a pre-made playlist of music that works great as filler for the reception in-between the special dances:

Hope this helps and good luck with reception!

    Sincerely,

    Anthony

My DJ had on his website the top 200 songs...then we were able to click on ones that we wanted...I definitely wanted a reception that got people moving! (which turned out great!!they were dancing till the wee hours...) I would suggest talking to your DJ or just Googling top reception songs...they are usually right on...the old standard reception songs work well, as everyone is expecting them...I DID NOT want the chicken dance, but *sigh* my "new" uncle requested it, w/o me knowing, and surprisingly enough, everyone was out there...and this was in the beginning of the reception!!

Just have fun..if you are, the guests will follow...

Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy by Big & Rich and Family Tradition by Hank Jr really got our reception going!!

I asked the same thing and have gotten a lot of responses. Sure fire things that people will dance to are the classics: Achy Breaky Heart, The Electric Slide, Casper's' Cha Cha Slide, and the likes. Everybody dances to these because everybody knows the steps. Oldies and dusty's are also usually a good idea. Also popular hit singles that don't have swear words are always a hit!

My fiance and I will have a WIDE variety of music at our reception. His family is really big into older soul music and my family is more into the oldies and the 80's. As for us, I love country and he is totally a hip hop fan. But we just want to have fun so we are going to go with a wide variety and let people make requests as well.

It seems like one of the all time classics for getting people to get up and dance is "YMCA" and depending on the age of the crowd you could try the Macarena. Try this site for suggetions http://www.weddingglobe.com/songs.asp

    Good luck!
