does yahoo need to do more to control racisim that is spreading hate on yahoo answers?

after reading many questions here for many days i realized racist people and possibly supremacist groups operate here. these trolls post racist questions which purposely create divisions. they make many accounts also posing as different races to spew hate. yahoo answers is a breeding ground for racisim, there are many young fragile minds here who will be easily influenced by the racist content.

should yahoo do more to control racist questions?

-should they authorize questions before allowing them to be posted?

-or better yet should they create M0ds which are normal responsible users that remove offensive content as soon as they see it (most forums use this system and mods can be reported if they abuse power?

any other better ideas?

Update:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS RESTRICT RACISIM.....

THIS AIN'T ABOUT FREEDOM OF SPEECH

Update 2:

IP bans do not work effectivly enough for many reasons which include:

- proxies

- dynamic IP addresses

- computer facilities

the first two most people can easily do.

Update 3:

yahoo should make many obedient high level users into m0ds with the power to remove racist questions. if they abuse their power which they most likely won't at high levels, they can be banned.

A few weeks ago another user posted a question as to why racist questions & comments are removed, citing if we have the right to express ourselves freely then we surely have the right to be offended. The poster of that question was in fact very much against racist, but her question was a very good one.

On the Spirituality & Religious board, people often post offensive boards directed at other people of various religions which have also caused a lot of commotion.

Truth is, there will always be haters & prejudice everywhere you go. & anyone on here cannot possibly be influenced by any of the racist content unless they were brought up to be racist (that's pretty insulting if you think people here are that easily influenced, even kids as young as 10 know racism & prejudice is wrong). The only thing you can do is report it & ignore it.

These people posting offensive questions only do so to get a rise out of people. It's pretty immature & if you were smart, you wouldn't even bother with it but just go on browsing questions or whatever it is that you're doing. These constant offenders always return so there's really not much you can do.

+++Allowing more active users with high points to have the ability to moderate the posts to the extent of deleting the offending ones would create even more chaos especially with abuse of their power sure to ensue.

Yes I think Yahoo is doing quite a bit to get rid of these people. The Immigration category in Politics and Government is full of British National Party (BNP) supporters posting questions about the BNP and yes they all have Black people as avatars. Elsewhere, you have someone calling herself 'Pakwak' provoking arguments by posting offensive questions about White people and another individual using a Muslim name and avatar to do the same thing. Basically, I report these people without hesitation every time they appear and sure one or two of them have been kicked off and have had to reappear but I'll ensure they keep getting kicked off.

Moderation is not a bad idea but we should all stand up to these losers ourselves too and report them. And yes I reported Robert Shelton for his answer on this page and his avatar.

    Agreed.

But there is word that some of them are also its propagators. Its like igniting a flame in a room full of kerosene. So just take it with a grain of salt. You might even be responding to a real racist.

I agree with someone reviewing the questions its a good idea but the amount of questions posted every day there's no way they can check all of them.

Not to mention the amount people who enjoy commenting on these racist questions just to rant.

i think they should just ban the ip of racists, the problem really is that after the racists get kicked off, they just make a new account, for example terrell got kicked off for being racist and he came back as either reality or the master race, miss chang got kicked off for the same reason and now shes just back as dr.c shore. taht would solve a lot of problems
