Do you have some family pictures. You could put together a photo album, get really creative, "This is your Life" kinda stuff. Try though to do something from the heart, something you took time and made an effort to come up with. That's worth more than any amount of money. A family dinner that you put together. You get the idea. I'm a mom of 4. I wish that is what my children would do.

Putting any old photos onto digital format would be a great idea, especially if you could get them onto DVD. Then, if you have a family party, you could play them as a montage during the party. A great slide show, as an earlier suggestion "This is your life" style, going from early marriage to kids, grandkids, etc. would be very romantic.

Another related idea is to take old family movies and get them onto DVD. If you're stretched for budget, just get one movie, pick a family favorite, or get other family members in on it and get a bunch done. It would be a great family effort, and there's no reason why you have to go it alone.

Pool cash with siblings, if you have them. If you're an only child, are there aunts or uncles, or grandparents, cousins, etc. who might go in on a gift with you? That might be another idea if you would like to do something that would cost more and you just can't quite get the money for a bigger gift. Then I'd do something small for a personal gift, and then chip in for the larger gift.

A 25th anniversary is a pretty big deal, but I also think (assuming that most kids are born after their parents are married) you're probably younger than 25 years old; you're probably not well established in your career and rolling in dough. Therefore, your parents wouldn't be expecting a very lavish gift from you, cost-wise. Realistically, I think they'd be happier to get a gift from the heart. If they've been married for 25 years, they probably don't need stuff per se. Gift giving at this point is more for the sake of celebration and love, not to fill their house with knick knacks.

A scrap book full of pictures of their past anniversaries, children, grandchildren, and their times together.

My aunt loves scrap booking for my grandparents. She puts little decorations with each photo, it's really cute.

You could buy the extra things in crafts stores and the scrap book itself in many places. I hope they would love their 25th anniversary. Oh, by the way you could take leaves and put it in the scrap book and when it dries it looks cool.^^
