Evolution is just being lucky enough to survive millions of years. In the process, animals evolved that could fly, allowing them to avoid predators, and travel further for food. However, flying can be a drawback, if the animal is so specialized that it becomes extinct because of loss of habitat or disturbed migration patterns.

It all depends on where they evolved, most birds fly to escape prey & migrate easily.

There are many flightless birds also, but they equipped with other abilities to help them survive without flight.

Because that's how nature and evolution created them. Well most of them anyway. Some birds that can't fly are ostriches, emus, kiwis, cormorants, and penguins.

They fly because they have wings and that is how nature creates them!!!!!!!
