owners of both dogs and cats?

does your cat ever try to accompany your dog on his walk? Mine does, I'm quite tempted to put the cat on the lead as well and see how he fares! Has anyone done this?

Obviously I wouldn't go far and would not do it if he was uncomfortable with it- I would never put my cat under unnecessary stress- so please don't worry!

Many years ago I had 12 little Yorkies, and I lived on a corner house. I would walk the dogs, two to a lead, go out the front door, and by the time I walked round the corner, my two cats had come through the cat flap and were waiting for us on the road. I was so amazed and also worried because they followed us and I was afraid they might get run over, so after that first time, I put the two cats on one lead so 12 dogs and 2 cats and I used to go walkies. The cats walked better than the dogs and the stares I got from people who just couldn't believe it. The cats thoroughly enjoyed themselves because they were part of the doggie family and had felt out of it before because I hadn't included them in the outings.

If you don't live on a super busy street then I would just let your cat follow. My cat does that when we go on walks with the dogs sometimes. If your cat doesn't mind being on a lead, then try it! My friend has a cat that walks on a leash every day! Not quite as good as a dog, but it definitely likes it!

I got 2 cats and 1 dog. 1 of the cats follow us when out walking but only so far, she the goes back home and waits patiently outside till we return. Personally I wouldn't put her on a lead as she seems so happy with what shes doing.

I have 3 Irish Setters and 2 cats and the cats frequently follow us when we go out.

One of our cats Meg, a fluffy tortoiseshell/white cat, is the worst - she will follow me part the way down to the fields and sit somewhere and wait for our return and then follow us home. It appears that she is braver on dark nights as she then follows us around the field (sometimes there are cows in the field too). In the winter months I have to rely on the torch to find the cats in the field and try & get them both home safely! I have tried to put a lead on her but she is too scatty.

If we walk up to town Meg also follows us - if it's daytime she sits and waits in the hedges on the corner and waits for us to return - it doesn't matter whether its 10 minutes or an hour or so - she always waits for us to return and then wants a big fuss made of her.

Smokey our other cat does follow us, sometimes around the field, but not to such a great extent. When I walk back to the house with the dogs, the neighbours are always looking out for the cats return too!

nope, mine are more likely to be by the window making sure he's gone for his walk,so they can have some fun tearing up the stairs and having a funny half hour,my cats(and my sisters)have fun tormenting the dog(he's a Samoyed just as well he's so sweet natured)playing on him using him as a toy,or punchbag to practise their movies in case they should need to fight intruders, funny how they are more of a guard dog than the dog(he hides under the table anyone knocks on the door, where as the cats start growling)

    cute though uh?

however the one Siamese girl would follow me everywhere if I were to let her(but we live by a busy main road,so she doesn't go out,for walkies, she will however if I go out to the patio area follow me around, and jump on to my shoulders when she's had enough or wants to be taken in to the house.)

if I were to put a harness on her or any of the other cat they might go a little mental(what with the noise of outside and that).

if you do decide to do this, try a harness, rather than a collar as it restricts the cats neck, also try walking her/him in the house, then in the garden before you try walking her/him with the dogs.

I even have 2 cats and have been given them whilst they have been approximately 4 months previous. they're now 5 yrs previous. I have been given a corgi combination domestic dog final year at 4 months previous as nicely. they're all lady. The cats are sisters, and have been observed at a safeguard at the same time. They hate one yet another, and are tolerable of the dogs. The dogs weighed much less then 5 lbs whilst we've been given her adn the cats might cover upstairs whilst the domestic dog grow to be downstairs. The cats attempt to triumph over my dogs with their declawed paws, yet my dogs sees this as play time, and could leap up and down with its feet interior the air. quickly forward to modern. They nonetheless do in contrast to a minimum of one yet another. The settle for that the dogs lives WITH them, yet they're greater interior the social community of the domicile. One cat desires to be friends, whilst the different will walk by way of and ignore approximately her or hiss on the dogs. Its kinda lovable, adn we are hoping sooner or later they'll all mellow out and be friends.

hehe, my gran did that, she lived in a flat near a road so whenever the cat wanted to go out she put it on a lead and took it for walks, it was so funny and she didn't mind, and one of our cats follows me everywhere, i tried oing for a walk along the road but she kept following me, it got anoying after a while because i didnt want her to keep doing it otherwise she might get run over. i would let your cat follow you if she want to, you can try her with a lead but i dont think she will like it but you can always see. good luck

our cat wants to come outside with us and the dogs, at least when we're in the backyard. she's got her harness. i'm not sure though, if she would accompany us on a walk. maybe she'd do, she is that kind of cat.

Before she died, Tag used to go for walks with me...she would follow me across the road and sit outside the shops waiting for me to be finished....she did it so much that we only had to walk her to the vets and back without the need for a cat carrier.

Sometimes they do - they also try to get in the car !

I once had one of the cats follow me when I took my dog (a german shepherd) to collect the kids from school. While we were sitting waiting for the kids he came right up and my dog turned round and sucked the cat's head - took it right into his mouth - you should have heard the gasps from the other parents !
