(Just kidding. I have no idea, but I understand Yahoo has real live humans involved in the process and that it involves number of best answers, total answers, and a hefty amount of cash in an envelope mailed to Sunnyvale, CA.)

TC and Top Answerer are based on 2 totally different criteria. If your number of answers and Best Answer percentage FOR THAT CATEGORY are not high enough, you still won't achieve TC for it. It may simply be too small a category.

General idea is that you need 10% Best Answer in whatever category you choose to excel in

You need to have a greater percentage of best answers, not just answers.
