When will Rock and Roll Return? It's out there and waiting to rise again.?

I think there are a lot great bands putting albums out right now. Its extremely important to make sure that MTV, and the radio is turned off.

You can find better bands by starting your own station at places like http://www.pandora.com/, or launch.yahoo.com. Sure, they don't have every underground band, but they have 1000s of times more than most radio will give you.

If you don't have a good local rock scene, you should probably move to someplace like Minneapolis, Austin, Seattle, or Detroit.

Unfortunately, I believe its days have passed. I sure hope I'm wrong. I heard Tom Petty quoted recently that rock is dead. It's become the swing, jazz and blues music of our youth (60s and 70s).

That's not to say that there aren't GREAT rock bands out there because there is. The promotion machine however pushes the image. It's the music BUSINESS, not the MUSIC business.

The consolidation of the record labels into 4 major corporations hasn't helped.

You will only find real modern rock in the underground. It probably will not be mainstream ever again. That's not a bad thing though.

Why do you think so many old school bands have gotten together in the past 5 years for reunion shows and whatnot?

what are you talking about Rush just put out a new CD (which is bitchen) Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Jimi Page, Robert Plant, there all putting out solo albums, rock is still very much alive.

it's everywhere. just not mainstream. like bullets and octane :D. mainstream sucks so if that's what you mean by "rise again" i hope never
