Try any of these hotels on the strip

    Bally's Las Vegas

    Circus Circus

    Excalibur

    Flamingo

    Harrah's

    Imperial Palace

    Luxor

    Monte Carlo

    New York-New York

    Planet Hollywood

    Riviera

    Sahara

    Stratosphere

Terrible's (not on the strip but very cheap in price)

    Treasure Island

    Tropicana

I just left off the high priced hotels you will find that the nicer hotels will be with-in a few dollars of each other the mid-range will very upon location.

Try the stratosphere and terribles for price location is not so good. Imperial Palace will have a better location for a few dollars more.

    Good Luck

My favorite places to stay that are a "good bargain/price" and very nice and have all the amenities that I want (i.e. buffets, bars, lounges, great casino) are the following:

    1. Luxor - this casino has a HUGE pool and has about every game that you want to play (including a nice poker room). It also has a pretty cheap buffet compared to the other mainstreem hotels, and the rooms are very nice and its cool being in a hotel that has slanted ceiling b/c it is in the shape of a pyramid. You can get rates near $70-80/night with early bookings during the week, and ~ 150-180/night on holidays/wkends

    2. New York New York - This hotel always has deals and has a lot of great bars and restaurants, and the people that stay here seem generally younger. The games are great here (no poker room) and the atmosphere is fast and loud (so if you want a quieter hotel this is not for you). Price is around $80-90/night early booking/wkdays, $150-170/wkends.

    3. Monte Carlo - Has a great Micro brewery and great casino as well - which is something I always look for. The buffet here is probably one of the best bargains around. The swiming pool here is pretty nice too, though Luxor's pool definately is the best. Price is around $80-90/night early booking/wkdays, $150-170/wkends.

    4. Mirage or Treasure Island - These are a little more pricey, but you do get a little more for what you pay for. The rooms a little bit nicer, and each have a nice club/lounge that is trendy and fun to hang out in (Tangerine in Treasure Island, JET at Mirage). They has have great buffets in each - much better in quality than the previously mentioned, but also at a much higher price ($30/person vs. < $18 at the other places). Price is around $120-130/night early booking/wkdays, $200-280/wkends.

You can also stay at cheaper places like the Stratosphere, Circus Circus, Excalibur, Tropicana, if you'd like - but I wouldnt recommend it (Price is around $60-70/night early booking/wkdays, $120-140/wkends.). Hotels in Vegas ARE the MAIN attraction, so I would spend a little extra money, plus this would prevent you from having to spend a lot of money on cabs. Have fun and hope this helps.

The boys are probably too old for Circus Circus or Excalibur, New York New York has a really well-done theme, a fair-sized arcade and the roller coaster. The rooms are kind of smallish but it's only for one night anyway. Staying in the pyramid at Luxor means rooms with a slanted wall, taking an elevator that travels on an angle, and it even has a decent pool. There's also age-friendly attractions like the Bodies exhibit or the new Legends sports area. Room prices are usually amongst the lowest on the strip. If you plan to be doing a lot of sightseeing in your one day on the strip, you'll probably want something more central like the Mirage, which also has the dolphin habitat, secret garden and the exploding volcano show at night. A room for four may be out of your price range, though.

All of the major themed hotels are nice and will rival any four\five star hotel in any city. It all depends on what you are looking for and what you consider affordable. Also time of year and time of week all play a role in determining what is the best place for you.

A good reference is http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php . Just go to hotel comparison and you can get an idea of the amenities for each hotel.

Overall, I really like NYNY (nice hotel and not a bad location), Imperial Palace (cheap and good location), Mandalay Bay (Classy but not overbearing, South strip) and Venetian (A work of art, Slightly North Strip)

There is much to see and do in Vegas so the more research you do before you go the more fun you will have.

    Enjoy yourself.

Monte Carlo - have been going yearly to Vegas and stayed a few other places but for a reasonable, intimate hotel you can't beat the Monte Carlo. Even though we stayed at Caesars this year we ended up our last day at Monte Carlo. When you walk in the registration lobby you can smell roses...it is not crowded and everyone is nice and you can't beat the price. We have stayed there 3 our of 5 times and will definitely go back again next year.

Stratosphere hotel has got to be the best priced, it is on the end of the strip making it a very long walk to the opposite end. But if price is what you are looking for, that is where I would stay again. When in Vegas I used my room to crash in. So I was not interested in the nicest room I could get.

They are a 4-star hotel, and if you pick weeknights you should be able to find $89.00 rates on their website.
