Not as long as people believe and read what they want into their as they call it the good book !! More people die in the name of religion when it is twisted into bigotry and racism !! I don't find it relevant I'm a good person and it's got nothing to do with religion ! I know the difference between right and wrong and live my life trying to be the best person I can be !!

Source(s): I have never been to church would that be a sin ? I bet the religious fanatics would think so !! In some countries I would be stoned to death!!

religious groups are the only ones that really can be accused of hypocrisy because they usually hold up higher standards, but hypocrisy and hate comes in all sizes and shapes, religious and secular.

throughout history, there were times when the religious communities promoted renassiance and advancement while other times it promotes death and violence.

atheists and secularists also at times use hate and violence towards people of faith.

No specific group is immune to violence and hate. It is like Animal Farm. The revolutionists from facism themselves grow up to be facists.

You cannot deny the good influence of religion in the origins of the United States. I consider the US to be a secular state that allows the freedom "of" religion, but its origins is very much influenced by the philosophies of religious thought.

So don't point fingers and blame the religious or the religions because when you do you are resorting to bigotry just like the people you accuse of being bigots.

  • And misuse of religion has what to do with God? Because some people have misused religion does not mean you have to reject Christ. There is Christ and there are His followers, sometimes the two are not the same.

Christ gives us a really good commandment that can be followed by all, religious and non-religious alike: Treat others as you want to be treated. If we all did this, the world would begin to heal--even in 2007.

exciting. i might probable consider distinctive this. whether Christianity relies on older religions, it delivered the strategies to the west. i think of atheism brings stability, a concentration on the actual quite than in basic terms the religious and a limiter to the wear that religions could reason. Religions are meant to make stable human beings do undesirable issues. yet they are in a position to additionally make undesirable human beings do stable issues. For religions to be clever, we ought to emphasize the latter over the former.

I don't need religious guidance in my life.

I see how my Grandmother may have needed it-- Getting shot at by Russians and Americans in Austria while going to school was no fun in WWII. She had a messed up childhood, one that you really couldn't blame anyone but the war for. I see how someone like her needed something to get her through the day, such as religion. To this day she is extremely religious.

All depends if it matter to you. It may matter to you and you don't know it. You should look around and read about all the different ones from around the world. Then if you still don't care then there is your answer. I'm a Buddha fan.

Science has been used for evil purposes, too. Perhaps we should cure that? I can't think of a single aspect of humanity that hasn't been abused.

Religion seems to have held up pretty well through the ages. It may not be relevant to your life except to provide you with a group of strangers to put down so you'll feel good about yourself, but it will always be precious to many of us.

No cure has been found for it....so It will probably linger and infest others for a long time to come.
