what kind of graphics card do i need?
from what i've learned i have an agp slot and agp is better than pci but when i looked up video cards on newegg.com they had agp 2x/4x and agp 4x/8x . how do i know which one i need?

You need to find out what speed your AGP slot is. The only way you can do that is by looking in ur motherboard book or searching your pc model specs on the internet. Windows wont tell you.
Most likely if it was made after 2000 it will go up to 8x.
PS: you can still buy any AGP Video card for your pc it just wont run at full speed if the slot is slower.

It depends on what you are planning on using the computer for, If you are using it for gaming, then I would recommend the agp 4x/8x
