A Eurostar from Venice to Rome takes about 4.5 hours and costs 51 euro ($70) for 2nd class. An intercity train takes a little longer than 5.5 hours and costs 41.50 ($58) for 2nd class.

You can check times and fares at: http://www.trenitalia.com/en/orari_biglietti/index...

You can get a flight from Venice to Fiumicino for around 70 euro ($95 + airport/city transport on each end) - travel time is a little over an hour plus the time to travel to the airport, wait at the airport to check in get through security and travel time from the airport to the city at Rome. Personally, I'd take the train - it's a lot less hassle.

By road Rome to Venice is 518 kilometers. By train the journey takes around 4 hours 30 minutes - check precise train times on www.trenitalia.it (English language version). Make sure the train goes through to the end of the line at Santa Lucia station in Venice and does not stop short, as some do, at Mestre on the mainland.

Train is by far the least tiring way of getting from Rome to Venice. If you are considering flying, remember you have to get out from central Rome to the airport, hang about the airport before you fly and then when you get to Marco Polo airport in Venice you have another 7 kilometers to travel across the lagoon to reach Venice One way or another, it all takes time.

I found this @ this site! Hope it helps!

Everything the previous two people said is right and I would highly suggest the train rather than plane. The seats are more comfortable, you get to see the country, you don't have to go through their airports, and in general, it is more pleasurable and relaxing than a plane ride.
