cassette player or CD player for car?

well i am getting a car stereo for my maruti 800 tomorrow. i just went to JC road in bangalore to get an idea of the price. i saw good systems for my budget of around 6000. my question is, should i go in for casette player or CD/MP3 player? does CD/MP3 player result in skips when i go over bumps or potholes? is an M800 worth it for an MP3 player? my car doesnt exactly have the best set of shocks.. but they're pretty ok tho...getting the latest songs on cassette wont be a problem for me as i have a deck and i can transfer songs from cd to cassette. we also have a large collection of empty audio cassettes.

next question, will be attrative to thieves? i dont have the money to invset in remote locking and all...the front windows dont have dark glasses either..the rear ones do. i will be fitting it in the dashboard and not in a console.

how do i know that the sony speakers i get are genuine? is there a method to find out?

See, I have got a Cassette player installed 2 days back because I had a 12 CD changer which will relay songs thru the FM...It is always better to have a CD player but going thru ur constraints and the car it would be wise to fit a cassette player..I hope Banglore has many FM channels to cater to ur mood...As far as Delhi is concerned, u can do with only a FM player in ur car as there is a choice of more than 8 FM stations running continuously and playing good no.s all the time...

    CD

Get the kind that will play MP3's as well. That way you can make your own CD's and have tons of music. You can fit a lot of MP3's on one CD.

Most cars have them so I can't see why it would be any more attractive to thieves. Most of them have removeable faces so when you leave your car you just remove the face. No good to the thieves then. lol

The new ones also have excellent anti-skip protection.

PS>>> buy your speakers from a Sony Dealer and they will be Sony

I think the best way to go is to get a cd player that has a usb port. That way you can get a flash drive and play mp3s as well. They have flash drives that hold up to 4 gigs of memory, allowing you to keep a huge collection of music on 2 or 3 flash drives.

wow i didnt know they still made cassette player for cars!!!

but I would suggest a CD/MP3 player, it would be more practical...and get one where the face comes off that way you can take it out of the car with you and thieves can't use the radio without the face so they won't want it....

This is a no brainer... CD. beyond that, its up to you. You have to know your surroundings and what might happen.. You can burn your own cd's so why the MP3?
