I'm 15 years old and I am going into my sophomore year of highshool football.?
And I'm not sure if i really want to play or not. I've been with the same group of guys since 6th grade all playin on the same team and we've gotten really used to being able to rely on whose playing next to eachother. I've never really wanted to play football but I've always played it for the other guys...to help them out. I've started center since the 6th grade and have never missed a game. I think you should only play if u really want to play and if u are really having fun. Which im not really on either one of them....what is your output on this?

You will always regret the path you didn't take more then a path you took and it didn't turn out your way. What I am saying is if you quick and miss a season or two and then want back in, your skills, strength, etc. will not be up to par and you probably never play football again. Then you will be in college wishing you had stayed in and had the opportunity to play and gain scholarships, etc.

You only have a couple more years of highschool. I cna tell u right now if i never played football in highschool my life would have been so different. But in a bad way. I was Friends with everyone not just jocks and preps but goths and punks and nerds and stoners,..everyone. Without football i know i would not have enjoyed my highschool years as much as i did..
So if your getting bored at center ask the coach if u could try D tackle which is an awesome spot, or maybe even tight end
If u still feel the same way and dont think u will regret not playing well then go ahead and get out but this is def ur decision so only u know what will make u happy

I kinda feel the same way, i have played center the last 2 years and im just not having alot of fun like i used to, i am just getting bored of it, and its not like i can play somthin fun like RB or somthin, i was a center. For u i bet u might feel the same way. Really, take some advice i got a couple days ago, if it feels like a chore to step out on that practice field, and its not just for fun, i say dont play, or take a year off. Thats what im planning on doing. Hope this helped.

If you don't want to play...don't play its as simple as that. If it brings you any joy at all stepping ono that field everyday then don't quit. You should never do an activity like football with the daily grind and physical punishment for anyone else but yourself because you love it.
I played OL in H.S. and College, it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far and it was when I played it. If its not like that for you then don't be afraid to try something else that brings you meaning and happiness.
But I would not reccomend taking "a year off" that destroys any trust a coach has in you. Either stick it out because you love the game or stop playing. Any coach wants his players for all four years to develope in H.S.
Good Luck

although i both played and coached football and i also played center the choice is yours. if you like playing and want to continue playing then keep on doing it. if you want to stop playing then go ahead and stop. remember always try to do what you and your heart tells you to do. my son quit playing football at 15. at first i was dissapointed but he chose to play in the band something he wanted to do. today he is very happy with his choice and everyone around him is happy with his choice. yes i wish he was still playing ball but i see how happy he is by not playing ball. the choice was his as so should be your choice

I think you should try a few more years and who knows u will get a scholarship and may even like the sport more....but if u don't then oh well u still get the scholarship and u move on to college.
