Vet Cost? Rabies shot cost? help!?!?
Hi-
I'm a new mommy to a 2 month old puppy. We got her from the Humane Society and we have to take her to the vet by Wed. I know the Humane Society pays for her first vet check, but how much would it normally cost to do a normal check up? And how much would rabies shots be? Please let me know...ANYONE...as soon as possible! thank you!

what part of the country are you in? i'm sure the cost varies. i'm in LA and rabies shots are prob. around $20somehting, each vet has office visit costs that range from $25-$50 just for the visit and then you have to pay for the medicines or anything else that is required. call around to a lot of vets in your area and ask what their office visit fees are as well as how much they charge for vaccines. good luck.

Well the average price for the rabies shot is about 12 bucks and they also offer rabies shots at the humane society here in Cali. It is usually cheaper about 6 bucks and they only offer it only one or two days out of the week from 12pm -2 pm. As for the vet, for me it usually cost about 27 bucks a visit and more plus medication and etc... But if you really want to know the cost of a vet visit, each vet is different so i suggest to call and ask to find out what a better deal. Good luck with your pup!

It depends on where you live and the vet that is working on your dog. My vet appt's are $25 but if my dog goes in just for a shot I only pay for the shots not the appointment. If I remember right the rabies shot was $45 but that included the rabies tag and a city dog license. Good luck with your new puppy. (I live in a small town in Iowa large cities will charge much more!!)

The cost depends on the area & vet you use. I live in the midwest , a checkup is $20 & rabies shot is $12.

I took my 10 week old kitten for just a check up and it was $40 and at 12 weeks for her second distemper shot and rabies shot and it was $50.
If money is a concern maybe you should rethink getting a pet. Animals can be expensive.

I have a 4 year old Lab. Last year he was due for EVERYTHING, every shot, heartworm check, intestinal parasite exam, Rabies. The total was $150.00
This year when he came due for all his boosters is was $116.00 which did not include his Rabies shot which is good for 3 -5 years (can't remember).
This covered everything for the year in terms of a basic checkup and shots.

i'm from south carolina, and we have something called a 'mobile vet' and he's a guy in a van that does all the shots and stuff...just like a vet would. i took my new puppy there and for all his shots it was $23. I usally use the regular vet and that's about $58

vet care:
exam fee $35, charged each time you see the vet
shots $15-30, given yearly, if its a puppy, they need about 3 sets of shots
rabies shot $5-15, given at 16 weeks of age, again at a year, and every 3 years after that
deworming $5-30, depending on the type(s) of worms that need treated
heartworm test $30, reccommended done yearly, hopefully the test is negative, because treating HW is expensive!
Heartworm preventative, $3-10 a month, depending on size of dog, reccommend given year-round
flea preventative $10-15, reccommended to be given in warmer months
microchip $35-50
registering the chip $15
spay/neuter $65-250, depending on age, size, health, and your vet

Vet costs depends where you are located. You really should have asked them what the costs usually are before adopting.
