How to fix my I-Pod?

I have the old school I-Pod, one of the first ones right when they made the clickwheel so it's the big white one. It shows the broken sign, and anytime I charge it to attempt to fix it, it makes a repeating clicking sound. I opened it but couldn't find the reason behind it, can anyone help?

if it's making a clicking sound, the hard drive inside has gone belly up (The clicking is the arm in the hard drive.) You'll need to either get the hard drive replaced or purchase a new ipod.

Apple can repair it for a (probably very high) price, or you could use a third party service like iResQ or rapidrepair. Some sites (I believe rapidrepair is one of them) sell the parts seperately too, so if your mechanically inclined, you may be able to replace it yourself.

It could be two reasons, a bad HDD, so it's broken done there (buy a new one or go to other sites for repair, Apple will charge you more than the price of a new iPod). But if you bricked your iPod (malware on your iPod), there may be hope. Plug it into your computer and in iTunes, choose to reformat your iPod, it just might work. Cheers.

Well have you ever downloaded songs from Limewire?

Some jerks put viruses in them, so your iPod would purposely break.
