Long Distance Operators.
I was one, for AT&T in Omaha. We were the very last bunch of long distance operators left in the whole country as the automated system kicked in around the country area by area. Then it got to Omaha, without any warning to us operators that it was coming then. In one day, we all were laid off, out on the street. I lost my house, my car, everything but the clothes on my back. Nope, they didnt tell us beforehand.. This was in 1987.
Some time later, they discovered that they did indeed need SOME human beings in there, but very, very few. So it's essentially a dead job profession now, with maybe just a few dozen people left across the country.

If you were going to speak of the 50's or 60's when personal service was still a big thing, then there would be plenty of jobs that had fallen by the wayside. But you are talking about 1987, where much of that didn't exist anyway. Technology has added different types of jobs in those 20 years but really hasn't eliminated any, except some very specialized jobs.
Additional: There are many jobs which aren't as prevalent today as they were 20 years ago, but they still exist to some degree and somewhere in the world. Disco was nearly dead in 1987, but even today one might find a job in some club as a disco DJ. And while CGI has taken over the anime and special effects area of film, some animation and special effects are still done by hand, the old fashioned way. And even some jobs that existed 40 years ago, such as delivering milk to residences or door-to-door salesman, still exist today, although these are very scarce. Heck, even making vinyl records still exist.
