While in Powerpoint go to the top menu and select File, then Save As. There will be a drop down box next to "Save As Type:" Select one of the image file formats such as gif, jpg, png, ect. Once selected it will ask if you want to save the current slide or all slides to image files.

Hi,
Use File > Save As
In the file type pop-up choose a graphics format (JPEG will probably work well for your purpose).
If you just want the current slide select that option, otherwise your presentation will be saved as one picture per slide.

Some 3rd party tool can help you turn PowerPoint into ScreenSaver directly.
