What are the purpose of stars?

Prestige, just like the points.

It means the question is "popular" -- and who doesn't like being popular?

it means ppl. really like it and if i starred a question i could always go back to it. but it should make u feel good to have stars lol :)

hey! just like at kindergarden teachers put stars on our foreheads for something they didnt quite expect from us then the class goes 'well done!, well done!, our clever boy / girl'.
