there is a jack (phone or dsl?) on my ps2. what is it for?

no smarties please. can i connect with other players like a pc, or is it for updates?

so how does it work? is it still connected to the tv when done? or do i connect to a cpu

    i put my dsl wire in my ps2 because my wire goes from my pc to my tv which is in the same room thats how i get my ps2 online

    to be exactit is ethernet and yes it can connect to play online
