I am looking at a used Ford Expedition for $5000?

It is the Eddie Bauer Expedition. It is a very nice looking vehicle. I want to know if it is too much to pay for this type of vehicle w/about 170,000 miles. How long will it last? I don't want to pay that & in a few weeks it breaks down.

I agree with everybody else. If your main criterion is "I don't want to pay that and then it breaks down" then you shouldn't be buying something with 170,000 miles. A vehicle like that is better for a skilled mechanic who doesn't care if it breaks down.

You might also consider that it'll burn about $5000 of gas in the next two years. So if that's a lot of money to you, just keep in mind you'd be paying it twice.

How is anyone here going to know when it will break down? Notice I said when...not if. 170,000 is too many miles, especially if you're borrowing money to buy it. It could last another 100 thousand, or die tomorrow. I'd pass.

@$5000, i would tell you to go look at the salvage yard.

you need twice that to even get close to a reliable expadition ov any year.
