Ripping and Naming in Win Media Player?

A friend gave me a CD of our concert - the files in .cda format. When I ripped the CD Media Player showed the artist, album etc as all "Unknown". That's to be expected. But what surprised me was when I named these via the Edit function - the neither the album name nor the song names were similarly updated on the hard drive. And I suspect if I rename the actual files on the hard drive then those will become disassociated with the album name and song names oin Media Player. Is there a way I can get these to match up??

Actually, I'm not sure about this. I've never used WMP's Library function, it takes up too much time. But if I remember correctly, you can name the files on your drive through Windows, check the tagging either in WMP, MP3Tag, or by going to Properties after right-clicking, and then use the library search function to add them. At least, that's how it works in MusicMatch.

    I hope this helps.
