When is ok to take a puppy swimming?
I mean, what age are they able to swim? I have heard that all dogs know how to swim, and that it is instinct. But when can I actually put him in the water with me and he be able to swim. I know my puppy is to young now as he is only 8 weeks.

Your puppy is way to young right now. It is probably is still getting used to its soroundings so you should waight a little longer till it has gotten used to the world so about maybe 3-6months old but you should teach him to play with the water till you actully let it swim

Well, if he likes to swim, let him swim but you probably would want to keep a close eye on him in case he gets tired and can't swim anymore. You know how puppies have a bunch of energy then they just fall asleep.

you can always put your pup in a life jacket to start swimming.. that way its still swimming but with some help
if you do get the life jacket i think it can go swimming right away
if no life jacket it can take a while to build up the leg strength to keep himself afloat
hope i helped! toodles

I would never take my dog swimming. Water might go in its ears and it might become infected. If you have big steps in your pool, then I let my Pom walk in there for a min.

at any age...introduce your puppy slowly and always under your watchful eye. Don't just throw it in a pool and lake...this will cause your dog to have a phobia and won't want to get in water.

you can put him in now actually just hold him and slowly introduce the water to him. If you put him in the water really fast then he will be afraid to go in the water.
