Hi Linds!
I hope you are really excited to have found this opportunity!
First of all, you have the right attitude by asking what you should do to meet people! That means you gonna meet them, for sure.
Second, let me copy paste a webiste which could be useful to you :
http://www.fusac.fr/en/ google it!
This is a website for english-speaking people in Paris. Not that I think you can't speak french, this is just that soemtimes this is nice to keep in touch with a part of your country when you are abroad.
To end, by proposing to give english lessons in exchange of american lessons could be a good way to meet with french people. We are always keen on learning your language. Ask to the local shops - bakery, supermarkets - to let you advertise for free!
Have fun and bonne soirée!!

If you skate then go down to the Place D'Italie any Friday night at 10 PM. You'll find thousands of people who do a skate thru the streets of Paris. There's politce to clear the way and keep everything safe and even an ambulance that follows along in case there are any accidents.
A great way to meet other young people.

Spread the word that you're a photographer, looking to photograph some nice looking French chicks for foreign magazines.
Get some phoney cards printed for some street cred. Worked for me.

hang out at cafes where students are, like the latin quarter. you could also sign up for classes (french, if you need any help with it, or any other subject if you don't) where you'll be surrounded by people closer to your age. visit hostels, too - you'll be able to meet tons of people there.
