02 ford escape acting up?

ive got a 02 ford escape with the v6.about a week ago it started acting up.it wants to die alot.sometimes it will run fine,but most of the time it will die,they only way i can keep it from stopping is to keep my foot in the gas.. when it does die the engine light does not come on, i know the light works because it comes on when i start it. can anyone give me help,or if you had one that done it to you please help...

    I never had a ford do this to me, my old chevy did though. Mine was actually something to do with the A/C, if I turned the A/C on the car would stall, and the only way to keep it from doing so was so keep my foot on the gas peddle. It ended up being the throttle body needing to be cleaned.

    Really a lot of information lacking here for a good diagnosis. Does the engine run rough, and lack power? if it does there's a good chance the catalytic converter is plugged, so check your exhaust to see how much pressure is coming out of the tail pipe.

    Could also be fuel filter, or injectors, but the fact you have to keep foot on the gas leads me to look at converter first.

    I would suggest replacing the iac valve. ( idle air control ). This is what the pcm uses to control the idle speed, and are known for sticking.
