Spirit of the Beehive (1973)?

I'm a great fan of horror movies, with a special fondness for FRANKENSTEIN. I've been tempted to buy the Criterion Collection edition of SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, but it would be a huge blind buy.

I'm just curious to know if others have watched SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE, and if you'd share your opinions. I know the film isn't a horror movie (and isn't about Frankenstein), but is there enough of the Frankenstein theme going on in the story to make it engaging for a horror fan?

Thanks!

No, it's not an "horror" movie. Without spoiling it, I'd say that is about the effect of the movie "Frankenstein" on two little girls. Are you familiar with the movie "Whistle Down the Wind", with Hayley Mills? There are some common points.

It's a fable: Life and death, fantasy and reality are mixed here. The look of the fascinating eyes of Ana Torrent is the look of a girl discovering the world, pretending to be already adult in a world where the adults have forgot what is to be a child, where the crude reality forbids any type of fantasy.

Anyway, if you love good movies, see it and decide by yourself.
