When was the last time someone unknowingly made you feel really old?

Mine was today.. when the young lady next door said hello Mrs. (insert last name here). For some reason.. it just made me feel like the old neighbor lady.

I don't remember the last time, but I definately remember the FIRST time...

I was talking to a PYT at college---I was about 34---and mentioned that I was thinking about moving into the dorms. It'd be cheaper, close to classes, and between the cheap meals in the cafeteria and no utility bills, I'd save money BIG time.

She said, "Oh, that's cool, we have LOTS of old people living in the dorms."

    I said, "What?"

She said, "Oh you'd like it, and everyone would want you to go get beer for them---you could drink all year for free!"

    I kept my (rented) house.

I had a good laugh reading the answers you got for your question.

I was a camp counselor recently and the camp was for 14-18 year old and I saw a lot of youths there that I held as babies.

    Sigh....

Shortly after my twins were born I was in the drug store picking up a prescription. when I opened my wallet to get my money the cashier saw a picture of my babies (they were like 3 months old maybe) and said, "Oh, are those your grandchildren?" I was in my 30's for crying out loud.

We have a few college interns helping out in my office this summer. Listening to them talk makes me feel old, and I'm only 27. They party, and have no worries that mommy and daddy can't fix, and I'm trying to pay for back-to- school clothes for my daughter and new glasses for my son.

Now I'm the mommy that is relied upon to fix everything. I feel like the oldest 27-year-old EVER!!!!

Just the other day. My daughter was talking about an actor (I think it may have been George Clooney), and she said, "He's so OLD! He must be at least 40! I wonder if he's going to retire?".

    *sigh*

The counter attendant charged me the "Senior Price" for a cup of coffee at a Burger King recently. And I'm far from being a Senior Citizen (although I appreciated the discount!)

I was at the hospital getting checked in for surgery. My mother accompanied me. The nurse asked me if my sister was going to stay at the hospital during my surgery. (My mother is in her seventies.) Of course, I am not! Boy! Did I feel old!!

When I paid a visit to someone that was in the hospital because he'd had a heart attack. I babysat him when he was 10.

  • I've been thinking about growing out my hair colour...see what I have under all the colour...and told one of my co workers. She looked at me and said "well what about all the grey that you're bound to find at YOUR AGE?"

    Oh..... ok.
