Is driving a mini cooper s worth learning how to drive a manual transmission?
I dont know how to drive a manual transmission car so naturally i would get the automatic for the cooper s. I've heard that the cooper s is much better if driven with a manual. Should i spend the time learning how to drive it in manual, or is it just a personal preference that could go either ways.
I've heard the auto transmission is decent on this car

If you care about driving for drivings sake then you should definately get the stick. It will make you a better driver, and improve your understanding of driving.
If you are a horrible driver to begin with and you dont feel comforatable trying to change gears while steering, then get the auto

My opinion is it is worth learning how to drive the manual. The difference between any manual and Auto, is that you have more control over how the car does everything with a manual. The way it goes through gas, gets up to speed, slows down, takes corners, or gets out of mud, ice, snow, dirt exc. With the manual you know that putting it in a lower gear helps you keep traction while going over, up, or down slippery slopes. But for the fun factor you also will learn how to beat any auto off the line. There is no contest with it unless you are driving a semi. That is the only manual I can think of that wouldn't toast an auto. Its up to you in the end whether you want to go out of your way to learn this but I did this just last year (learned how to drive stick) and it took me a while to get a hold of but now that I do I am glad I took the time. Good luck, and congradulations on the Mini S. I can not wait until I get one. : )

Honestly, who cares about racing to the person at the top, not a main concern for most people. In truth, it is a good idea to learn how to drive a manual because you never know what kind of a situation might occur in your life that may require you to do such a task. But yes, manuals are cheaper to buy. You know why? Nobody wants to drive them anymore. Nowadays, cars can pretty much drive themselves. It is a good idea to learn how to drive one, it gets better gas mileage than most automatics do and is usually cheaper to fix. It also gives you more control over the vehicle. I will tell you, if you do learn, be prepared to stall the car A LOT. Nobody is perfect and can get it right away, if you can you are a god. It will take about 2 weeks of practice to get it down fully because every manual is different with its own little quirks and every driver is different on how they drive the car and shift and such.

I say don't buy a mini cooper until you actually know how to drive a stick. First of all you don't want to screw up the tranny in a mini and then endure the expense of repairs. So if you have the money for a mini, then try buying an old beatup cheapo car with a stick and tear it apart having fun out where there is no one but you and god. After your little adventure in the art of moving not one but both your legs, then you can decide on what is best for you. Considering what you are going to be using the mini for and for how long you plan to own it will and should have a considerable amount of sway on your decision. And if you got the cash, deal with the distributer in buying one of each for a reasonable offer, and enjoy the best of both worlds. And I would recommend shaving your head and getting a tattoo .. Dont forget to get all the options and a good warranty.

you will like to drive manually or automatically according to what u prefer.i hav a mini cooper which is auto.i really prefer auto as it is easy and u can relax as u drive instead of changing the gear every 2 minutes.so i would advice u to not waste time and money and just buy an auto mini cooper

it's generally a good idea to get to know how to drive a manual transmission anyway coz of the chance that one day you will find yourself in a position wherein you are forced to get behind the wheel of one. it's not hard; it just takes a bit of practice and coordination and it'll be like second nature. like riding a bike, mate!
