What would be a good way to store inline 6 car engine?

Studying to be a mechanic, planning on taking on short block rebuilding project. How do I store the engine so that I can use the engine 5 years later?

basically you want to "pickle" the engine. soak the cylinders with a good oil, and then seal up the engine in a plastic bag with a desiccant added to scrub oxygen and moisture from the air in the bag. this way the internals will be like you left them. when you go to pull the engine out, you want to run some penetrating oil down the cylinders, and crank the engine over by hand to make sure it is loose. then change the oil, filter, plugs, etc. use a drill running in the proper direction to get oil pressure up before you try to start the engine.

Pull the spark plugs...squirt some oil into each cylinder and replace the plugs. Spin the engine over every 3 months or so to keep the rings free.

Tape up the intake and exhaust to insure no critters take up residence in the engine, too.
