Automatic locks in my '04 Kia Sedona?

So, I have an '04 Kia Sedona that I picked up used about 6 months ago. The car as a remote lock / starter unit. When I turn on the engine, sometimes the doors lock automatically, and sometimes they don't. I kind of like the automatic locking doors, as I prefer to drive with my doors locked, but sometimes forget.

Does anyone know what determines if the locks will lock automatically or not? If there's some sequence that I SHOULD be doing that I'm not?

Thanks.

Update:

I may not have been clear enough in my original description. The doors lock fine if I use the automatic starter, and they all like correctly when I lock them with the lock button.

SOMETIMES, they lock when I use the key to start the car (i.e., I unlock the doors remotely, get in, close the door, start the car with the key, and poof, the doors all lock). And SOMETIMES, when I follow the same sequence (unlock doors remotely, get in, close the door and start the car with the key) they DON'T lock automatically.

its is supposed to lock all the time when you use the remote starter on it,there is a procedure for this,if you,ll look in the owners manual it should tell this,my neighbor has one and when he hits the start button on his it locks the door, they do this as a safety feature on them, good luck on it.

Maybe you door isnt shut tight enough?try just leaving the key in the ignition to register before actually turning it like you do for immobilisers.Could be a loose fuse other than that.My b/f is a mechanic ill ask him what he thinks when he gets home and tell you.

Take it to a dealer - or reputable mechanic.

Are you aware of the recalls for this vehicle?????
