Cavalry vs. Calvary?
OK, so this isn't really a specific movie question so much as a pet peeve that irks me every time I hear it in a movie...
It's always said in a situation where the character(s) realize that they're going to need help to defeat the enemy, or a character says when he shows up to save the day.
What they're supposed to be saying is something like:
"It's time to call in the cavalry!"
or
"Don't worry! The cavalry has arrived!"
But what actually comes out of their mouth is:
"It's time to call in the Calvary!"
Does the actor really not know the difference between a cavalry and Calvary? Why is this mistake so often not caught by directors or editors?!
Why am I ranting to all you strangers about this?!
I think I need a vacation.
But, really... does that drive you nuts, too?

Actually it does and you're right, you would think that SOMEONE would catch it and correct it.
Cavalry-Many troops (on horseback right?)
Calvary-Where Christ said "It is finished." and paid for our sins to set us free.
BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG difference, hahahahahahahaha.
Hello?!?!?! These people get paid big money to figure these things out and to pay attention to em.
I notice the littlest things in movies without really meaning to and things like that make me wanna shake someone, haha, but it's not like it ruins the movie experience or anything. Like you said, just a pet peev.
Another example is when actors/actresses say "Ambliance" instead of "Ambulance" or even MORE common would be when they say "Nucular", instead of "Nuclear"...yeah that one I hear all the time.
Anyway, great conversation starter, I'm including a clip from YouTube of movie goofs for all of you to enjoy. Thanx for reading, God bless and have a rockin day!

WHen Japan invaded the Phillipe's they encoutereCavalryought a US CavarPhilippines. The cavarly did not charge like in the movies in fact the Cavalry charge was do away with during the American civil war. The rifle made cavarly an obsolete weapon. But the cavarly would move mounted and when they made contact with the enemy or reached their destination they would dismount and fight on the ground. The only advantaged they had was the ability to move faster than dismounted troops but they had the disadvantage of requiring a greater supply burden. In Poland at the outset of WW2 Polish lancers supposedly engaged a German panzer regiment, but much of this has been disputted.

I've never heard them say it that way. Calvary was where Christ was hung. Surely their director would correct that. If not, they're stupid!
