How do a insert a file inside a folder in a Yahoo!Groups file folder?

I am a long time Y!G owner/moderator. I plan to have several file folders in the file folder, each with a different kind of file, as I have seen in other groups, but have not, myself, previously established.

When last I used the help links on the upper right, just above the command links (e.g. :Files Help", just above "Add file", "Create Text file", "Create folder") they led to Q&A specifically related to the named topic. That was a year or two ago. Now they lead to a general Yahoo! help page that makes no mention at all of Yahoo!Groups. Similarly placed links on other Y!G's other pages (eg "Photo help", "Members help") lead to the same place. Eventually, through the G-link in the alphabetical index, I found a link to "Groups" with further links to some very basic and elementary help, but no answer to my question.

I will admit and agree with you that the new Yahoo Helps are severely lacking.

If your group owner allows members to create Files, you can do make folders within folders and add text files to the folders. My instructions will guide you step by step. First you will make what we will call your MAIN folder. Then you will make folders within the main folder. Then you will make text files within designated folders.

    Sign in to your group.

    1) Click on Files located on left side of group page.

In the upper right side, click on Create Folder.

Type in the folder name and a description of it. Then click Create Folder. It will now appear on the files list.

    2) Click on your "main" folder.

    Click on Create Folder.

Type in the folder name and a description of it.

    Click Create Folder.

Continue repeating this step for as many as you need.

(To view the folders located within the main folder,

just click on the "main folder" and you will see the "sub" folders. )

Now you are ready to place text files into your folders.

Click on the folder you want the text file to go in.

    Click on Create Text File.

Scroll down to File Content and type in what you desire.

Scroll down to bottom right and click Create File.

I know this currently works because I did a test run on one of my groups and it did work for me.
